Breast Lift New York City

BREAST LIFT (MASTOPEXY)
Following pregnancy or weight loss, the breasts may sag. The mastopexy procedure lifts the breast by repositioning the breast tissue and allowing the skin to redrape in its new position. This also raises the height of the nipple and areola, which produces a more youthful contour to the breast. Some patients desire more fullness in their breasts, and breast augmentation can be performed simultaneously with the lift procedure.

Initial Consultation for Breast Lift Procedure
During your initial consultation with Dr. Naidu, she will discuss with you your desires and expectations from surgery. This will include a complete medical history and an examination of the skin and soft tissue of the breasts. Dr. Naidu will suggest a procedure that suits you best and answer any questions that you might have.

Breast Lift Procedure
There are several techniques used in the mastopexy procedure, and these include approaches through the circumareolar incision (the incision is made around the nipple-areolar complex only), through the vertical incision (the incision is made around the nipple-areolar complex and vertically below it), and through the traditional incision (an incision is made around the nipple-areolar complex, vertically below the breast, and horizontally along the inferior aspect of the breast). The particular technique to be used is based upon the amount of lift that your breast requires, and whether or not an additional augmentation with implants is to be performed. The procedure takes two to three hours to perform, and is done in the hospital or in an ambulatory center under general anesthesia. Most patients are able to return home following surgery.

Post Breast Lift Surgery
Following surgery, the patient is placed into a soft, supportive brassiere which is worn for one week. After this time, a regular soft bra without an underwire should be worn for five weeks. Mild to moderate swelling is normal and will make the breasts appear larger for 1-2 weeks after surgery. Most sutures will dissolve on their own. Patients are encouraged to walk the day after surgery, but heavy exercise should be avoided for three weeks.
